Reporting a Death
In the event of a death, a death certificate needs to be issued by a doctor. The death must then be reported to the registry office responsible at the place of death.
If the person dies in hospital, a retirement home or nursing home:
- The management of the hospital or home must report the death to the registry office.
If the person dies elsewhere:
- As the relative, you must report the death to the registry office.
A funeral service may be called to handle transport to the cemetery or repatriation abroad. As the relative, you are required to pay the costs. The registry office responsible at the place of death provides information on the procedure and the necessary documents.
